Mayor Ley –
This is the email regarding the AEP easement along the south side of Auburn Drive/CR 48 to Garrett that eliminates the possibility of installing a trail in that easement. Our office is looking conceptually at
other options for this route – in existing ROW or along the north side of the ROW.
Thanks,

Amy,
At this point, here is what AEP has as far as property rights along the Clipper Loop line route.
AEP does not own the property under Clipper Loop, and
our right–of-way easement descriptions prevent additional easements within ours even if the property owners agree. In addition, the stone base was removed so the property owners could farm that strip
of land in many cases.
At this point, there appears to be no way to construct a trail under the Clipper Loop line route.

Hi Lee,
I was on the original email thread between you and Chris Schweitzer regarding using the improvements AEP has made to install the Clipper Loop from Garrett to Auburn as the location for a trail. (See below.)
We have been approached by Garrett about the same project.
We would like to start discussing the potential and logistics of a collaborative project for Auburn and Garrett to utilize this path for a trail. The State of Indiana has released a substantial amount of grant
funding for projects of this nature that will be available over the next year.
We look forward to hearing from you and working with AEP on this project.
All the best,

Hi Lee,
The City would like to start a conversation about the possibility of using the AEP Clipper line as a potential trail connector between Auburn and Garrett. A trail base would already be in place!
Just starting the conversation to explore opportunities and challenges... Who might be the AEP point of contact on this type of conversation?
Thanks in advance,
Chris
